Lifting carpet is quick. Getting the floor underneath into the condition your landlord expects is where the real work is.

In short: Carpet tiles lift out quickly, while glued broadloom carpet takes longer and leaves adhesive on the floor. At reinstatement, most landlords want the floor clean, with no glue patches or damage, so adhesive scraping and screed repair are often part of the job.
| Carpet tiles | Broadloom (wall-to-wall) | |
|---|---|---|
| How it’s laid | Loose-laid or with tackifier | Glued down, sometimes with underlay |
| Removal | Tiles lifted and stacked | Cut into strips and pulled up |
| Residue | Light tackifier, usually easy to clean | Heavier glue that often needs scraping |
| Reuse | Sometimes possible | Rarely |

Most leases ask for the floor to be returned clean, level and free of adhesive, or to the original finish. Check whether your lease asks for bare shell or original condition before getting quotes.
